Thomas McGann is a native Long Islander, a graduate of Bishop Loughlin MHS and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Beside a military career that included a tour in Viet Nam, Tom has been involved in several business ventures. He was the owner/operator of Maguire’s Bayfront Restaurant in Ocean Beach, Fire Island and Seasons Restaurants in both East Moriches and West Hampton, NY. He was also the CEO of Seafarers Construction Company and a managing partner in Seafarers Investing Company that had vested interests in numerous business ventures.

In addition, Tom spent ten years digging clams on the Great South Bay and was a self-employed house painter for another ten.  Other stints have included tending bar, waiting tables and driving trucks.

His real passion is writing. He wrote an online political column for three years for examiner.com and is an ongoing contributor to The Fire Island News. In addition, he is the author of a young adult fantasy entitled The Riddle of Riddles,  and a motorcycle thriller entitled Chance – in addition to several plays, numerous short stories, essays and reams of poetry.

Sailing, motorcycling and reading are his hobbies but family is his life.
